2008
The Subic Bay Marines are looking for a few good men!

The Subic Bay Marines will hold their 16th annual reunion from August 21 through August 23, 2008 in Covington, Kentucky at the Drawbridge Inn. Anyone who served at the Marine Barracks, which includes Cubi Point and San Miguel, anytime during the past century, is invited to attend. Prior to its closure and return to the Philippine government in 1992, the Subic Bay Naval Base was, from 1899-1992, one of America’s most strategic military installations. The Marines selected to protect this vital United States installation were unique people. They were required to perform a multitude of assignments. For example, the Marines at Cubi Point, although small in number ( less than 200 men ) protected the Naval Air Station, 40,000 tons of explosives, 10,000 acres of virgin rain forest, 5,000 acres of watershed and patrolled the surrounding jungle. Additionally, the Subic Bay Marines trained auxiliary security force companies, performed military and civilian police duties, and protected the Subic Bay Naval Base.

This legendary unit of United States Marines has been cited as the finest body of American fighting men ever assembled. They were America's most highly trained and effective security force.

In short, the Subic Bay Marines represent the best there is in a well-trained, dedicated force, defending democracy and freedom. -- United States Senator Tom Harkin. The Marines who served at Subic Bay were among the most highly trained and elite of the armed forces. By performing a variety of duties they helped secure the freedom of the United States.--United States Congressman Norm Dicks.

Those interested in attending the 2008 reunion should call the Drawbridge Inn at 800-354-9793 or 859-341-2800, or visit the Web site at www.Subicbaymarines.com. Sangley Point Marines are also welcome to attend all SBM Reunions.
